I finished the painting of the White Roses today and I'm very well pleased with it.  It evokes a quiet feeling of peaceful elegance.  It is the first in a new series of lighter, more soft paintings.  Enjoy!

Went out for a sunset painting tonight

It was a beautiful sunset tonight.  It was more subtle than many nights with only a few clouds around the sun.  This led me to paint a "closeup."  It was a quiet and still evening.  There just isn't anything that compares with painting outside, with the fresh air, the chirping of crickets and the hush of evening turning into night. 

I love the contrast of the brilliant light coming from behind the darker, neutral sky mass.

A good day to start blogging

I woke up excited to start working on the next area of my new white roses painting.  However, the beautiful morning sky was competing for my interest.  The white roses won out today.  Maybe a landscape tonight?
